Golfbreaks Scottish Women's Amateur Tour

Alan set up the Scottish Womens Amateur Tour in 2024. He felt strongly there wasn't the same opportunity for the girl and women amateurs, as there was for the boys and the men in Scotland. The tour attracts females from all over the country, ranging in handicaps from plus 4 to 35. Ages vary from 16yrs old to players in their 60's. Although a competitive tour with scratch and net divisions it's also turned into a real community with many new friendships being made, and members inviting other members for social games at their home clubs. Alan has also hosted 3 fun trips to both Portugal and Spain for members and their guests, with another one planned in Vilamoura Portugal in November 2026. 29 of the members also enjoyed a wee Christmas lunch get together in Edinburgh, in December '25.

Golf Tour Operator Golfbreaks are headline sponsors for the tour who Alan also works with. Tomatin Distillery have a "Tomatin Nearest the Pin Series" at every event, where the winner receives one of their finest casks. And Golf Finance Ltd sponsor the end of season Tour Championship Final which this year will be at wonderful Dumbarnie Links. The Final sees the top 6 from both the net and scratch order of merits teeing it up from the "Final 12", in a bid to become the overall champions of the year. Glenmuir clothing company also supply merchandise at a reduced rate, for members to purchase with the tour logo on the garments.
